St. Elizabeth's Church {Harper, Iowa Photographer}

Whew! Having this last week off has allowed me to get caught up on processing images and posting them on Facebook, and now here on my blog.

In October, my father passed away. The weekend of the funeral, the church where I attended mass through my childhood, held their last mass before the church would be torn down. The last three generations of my family have attended church here, we were educated in the Catholic school that was next door, and our ancestors were buried in the cemetery across the street. It was bittersweet to be surrounded by memories of my childhood less than 24 hours after my dad died. It was the first time my siblings and I had all been together and gone to mass there, in probably 20 years. We were surrounded by my dad's family in the pews behind us, and I had an opportunity to see old family friends, some of whom I hadn't seen since grade school.

After the mass was over, I lingered and took these photos of the church.

Bee's Senior Session {Austin, TX Urban Senior Photography}

This weekend I headed to Austin to do a senior session for the daughter of one of my best friends. Bee turned 18 and I was fortunate enough to be present for her birthday party as well. It was a good time, and also happened to be the first time I've ever had S'mores around a bonfire! What a delicious treat!!

Bee is an amazing girl--- she's smart, works hard, is fun and silly to hang around with, and has a real genuine sweetness that shines thru at all times. Earlier this year, her mom mentioned that they started getting senior photography information in the mail and when she asked Bee where she wanted to do them, Bee replied, "I want Maria to do my senior photos."

On Sunday, we ventured down to Sixth Street in Austin and had a really good time! This was a unique session, in that we had some pretty cool experiences doing the photos. I'll share more on that when I get a specific group of photos edited and posted.

(More to come over the next few days... Keep checking back!)
