St. Elizabeth's Church {Harper, Iowa Photographer}
Whew! Having this last week off has allowed me to get caught up on processing images and posting them on Facebook, and now here on my blog.
In October, my father passed away. The weekend of the funeral, the church where I attended mass through my childhood, held their last mass before the church would be torn down. The last three generations of my family have attended church here, we were educated in the Catholic school that was next door, and our ancestors were buried in the cemetery across the street. It was bittersweet to be surrounded by memories of my childhood less than 24 hours after my dad died. It was the first time my siblings and I had all been together and gone to mass there, in probably 20 years. We were surrounded by my dad's family in the pews behind us, and I had an opportunity to see old family friends, some of whom I hadn't seen since grade school.
After the mass was over, I lingered and took these photos of the church.
